How Much Is EPA 608 Certification? 2026 Prices
Last checked October 20, 2026
There's no single price. Each EPA-approved program sets its own fee. EPA's rules only say the fees must be reasonable (40 CFR Part 82, Appendix D).
Here's what several programs publish, checked on 2026-10-20.

Many other programs test at schools, supply houses and training centers. Their fees depend on the site, so ask the location directly.
Costs people forget
- Retakes. Some programs include extra attempts, others charge per section.
- A physical card. Some programs mail one at no charge. Others charge for it.
- Rush scheduling. Remote exams booked less than 72 hours ahead may cost more at some programs (for example, ESCO).
- Study materials. Manuals and courses are often sold separately from the exam.
- Time off work. In-person exams can mean a half day away.
Cheapest isn't always cheapest
A low price with one attempt can cost more than a higher price with three, if you fail a section.
Check two things before you buy: how many attempts you get, and what a failed section costs to retake.
Also check whether the test counts toward Universal. An open-book Type I or Core score doesn't (EPA certification requirements).
Where practice fits
Passing the first time is the simplest way to keep the cost down.
Our Core practice test is free. The $19 one-time Universal pass adds full practice for Types I, II and III and a 100-question mock exam. It's practice only. You still buy the exam from an approved program.
